My Leadership Identities
Belonging to supportive, inspiring groups of individuals—whether that consists of a team, family, or a group of colleagues or friends--is important to me. I feel I am most productive and motivated when I am encouraged by and contributing to such a community, and I see it as my duty in these communities to support and inspire others, be inclusive and democratic, build strong relationships, and encourage collaboration towards common goals. |
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead |
“The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” - Nelson Henderson |
I enjoy helping others even when such contributions do not directly benefit me, seeing service as an investment in a caring society. By being active in my concern for others’ well-being and success, I contribute to a safer, supportive, more caring community. And these contributions I make as an individual may span further than I can comprehend. On a human level, I strive to coexist with others through empathy and acceptance, encouraging harmony and thoughtful attitudes. Through my own action I can exemplify and encourage service and caring in others. |
I believe that people can have a powerful impact on each other—our lives are not independent, but interconnected--and I seek to have a positive impact through the ways I interact and influence those around me. I believe connecting people and sharing ideas is important, and by doing so I hope to empower others. I enjoy serving as a resource by connecting people to opportunities, to information, and to one another. I care about building connections, sustaining strong, supportive, inspiring relationships, and growing together. |
"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." - Mother Teresa |
